Installing wings and weighing

After moving the RV-12 to the hangar on Monday, we installed the wings, fuel tank, seats and canopy and weighed the aircraft.

Left wing installed

Right wing installed - all of the blue protective film has not been removed yet.

Up on the scales. We rent them from the EAA Chapter.

The results. The top figure for the left main gear was 2 lbs too high, because I failed to zero out the scale. The total empty weight was 713 lbs, which is more than 500 lbs lighter than the RV-9A, with a maximum weight of 1320 lbs, gives us a useful load of 607 lbs and with 120 lbs for full fuel allows for 487 lbs for people and baggage. Not bad!
