Introduction

Below are pictures of our 3 RV's. We retired in May of 2000, bought a motorhome, sold our house in Kentucky, stored our furniture and went full-timing for about 3 years. In April of 2003, we ordered the tail kit for the RV-9A from Van's aircraft at Sun-n-fun in Lakeland, FL, also moved into a condo we bought in Michigan and started building the airplane in our basement of the condo. The first flight of this airplane occurred in October of 2005. We now have flown this aircraft for 233 hours. We have flown all over Michigan, from Michigan to Iowa, to Kentucky, to Alabama, to North Carolina and all over Florida. It has been a great deal of fun, but also not without a few problems. Dealing with problems is part of the experience and a good learning experience.
The decision to build another airplane came about a concern I have about passing the medical required to fly the RV-9A. This medical is not required to fly an RV-12, due to it qualifying for a new category called Light Sport Aircraft. The LSA aircraft has a number of restrictions placed on it which do not affect me a lot. The wing kit for the RV-12 became available on April 8, 2008 and we ordered it on that date. We picked up the kit from the freight terminal on June 23, 2008 and finished the construction on July 14, 2008. The next kit is the fuselage kit and it became available the end of July, but will not ship till the end of September.
