Kidron, OH

We left Byron Center, MI yesterday and now have completed one day of working as volunteers at a new location in Kidron, OH. The company is called Preferred Air Parts and is also involved in working with other Missionary Aviation organizations. I was contacted to help work on a DC-3 that is going to go to Missionary Flights International in Fort Pierce, FL. Since we are planning to work for MFI in November, we were interested to work on this particular aircraft. As you can see from the pictures there is quite a bit of work to be done yet. We are replacing a lot of corroded parts of the aircraft with new material. Lots of sheetmetal work, which is right up my alley.

The aircraft without wings or vertical stabilizer and rudder. The green parts are the new skins installed.


The aircraft has also been modified to fly with turboprop engines. Turbine engines run on Jet-A fuel, which is so much easier to get overseas than Avgas. I am working on installing nutplates on some smaller parts that will be installed in the aircraft later.
