Flying to Pella, Iowa

Last Wednesday we flew to Mackinac Island for the day after an invitation from another Michigan RVator (a group of people with the same hobby - building and flying Van's RV's). It is a picturesque destination, but we did not take our camera. Then on Friday 9/4 we checked weather about 10 am and found the weather had changed and allowed us to make a flight to Pella, IA. We had been checking weather all week and it did not look like we were going to be able to make it happen and then it changed and we made a last minute decision to go for it. We had a lovely flight, mostly on top of the clouds at 10,500 feet above sea level. We had a nice visit with family for 3 days and decided to return on Monday 9/7 to beat the weather back. This time we spent most of the time above the clouds at 9500 feet. It is sure an enjoyable way to travel and beats Interstate 80 hands down. Again we did not take any pictures, but here is a picture Ken Eekhoff took when he took us to the airport at Pella for our return trip. My sister Tena is standing next to us with Tena's Mustang convertible sharing the honors with our airplane.
We now have about 330 hours on this aircraft.

We are still anxiously waiting on the delivery of the engine kit for the RV-12 to finish that project. Everything else is done, with the exception of a few corrections still in the works at the factory.
