A Kodak moment with the Thunderbirds
The Air Force Thunderbirds had a show at Battle Creek, MI this 4th of July weekend. This gave us the opportunity to fly there and get a picture of our RV9A with the real Thunderbirds. As you can tell from the pictures, the resemblance is not bad. When we asked the tower if we could park the airplane next to the Thunderbirds, he said "There is security out there, it's up to them". We stopped the airplane and got out to take the pictures and figured it is best to ask for forgiveness than for permission. We talked to security later and they had no problem with us.

Thunderbird #5 which our airplane is patterned after.
On departure out of Battle Creek airport. Battle Creek is a joint use airfield, like Charleston, SC, they used to have A-10's there, but now only C-23's. Western Michigan University has quite a flight school program there.
